Use Your Words is a game from Smiling Buddha Games that provides you with four party games that can surely make your parties even livelier. This family game lets you play with 3 - 6 players locally. It also supports up to 1,000 online players using game streaming applications. It is a fun game that invites players to respond to with the funniest answers they can think of.
Fun games for funny people
If you are familiar with the Jackbox Party Pack titles, then you won’t be having a hard time playing Use Your Words. Much like the Jackbox games, this game requires players to use a secondary device—typically, a phone—as a controller. You must use the device to visit the game’s website and insert the game room code. Once entered, the game automatically takes you through a series of game modes for each round.
The actual gameplay consists of 4 unique mini-games. Each session takes around 20-30 minutes, depending on how many people are playing. One session is called Sub the Title. The objective of this game is to make a subtitle for a random 5-to-10-second-long foreign movie clip. If you are a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, you’ll enjoy this game, as you can say whatever you want the actors on the screen say.
Another session is called Blank-o-Matic. In this game, players will each have a sentence with a blank section that they need to fill in. There is also the Extra, Extra mode which lets you write a hilarious caption or a clickbait headline. It is a fun take on the classic Caption This game, featuring a series of ridiculous photos. Finally, players can also the Survey Says mode, which is sort of a lightning round. Players will need to fill in a series of phrases with very little time to think.
The fun in playing the game lies in the answers that the players provide. To come up as the winner, your opponents must vote for your answer. You’ll get a set of points depending on the number of people who voted for you.
But, if in the course of the game, your mind blanked out and you run out of answers, there is the House Answer. House Answers are game-provided responses that you can use. However, doing so loses you a point. You also have the option to choose an opponent’s answer, but the catch is you’ll be handing them points.

Use Your Words also boasts a classy vintage soundtrack with songs by Bob Thompson. This is in addition to the '60s vibe of the design, which consists of old television sets, oddly-shaped chairs, and the caricatures on the menu. Everything gives the game a pleasant and old aesthetic.
Unfortunately, that covers everything in the game. There are no side modes, no alternative way to go from one session to the next. There isn’t any other kind of mini-game at all. As soon as you boot up the game, it is the way you go.
All in all, the game will be entertaining for the first few hours. But, after the first game comes to an end and the leaderboard is read out, that’s it.
Fun game, but not for long
Use Your Words offers fun gameplay that is entertaining at first. It can be a nice icebreaker for a family gathering or while hanging out with friends. However, the game does not provide you with anything other than its four mini-games. Also, there is no solo mode, so you’ll always need to find someone to play with. All in all, the game is only helpful if you need something to entertain your family and friends for a while.
